Position Summary The Department of Systems Engineering at Colorado State University invites applications for a full‑time, regular, nine‑month tenure‑track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank. The successful candidate will develop an internationally‑recognized, interdisciplinary research program, teach graduate and undergraduate courses in Systems Engineering, and serve the College of Engineering and the broader community.

Responsibilities

Teach and develop courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in Systems Engineering, including short courses and distance‑education programs.

Advise graduate students and support their research and professional development.

Conduct research in a systems‑centric area such as space systems, AI in systems engineering, digital and model‑based systems engineering, or sustainability, securing external funding and publishing in peer‑reviewed journals.

Provide leadership within the research field through conference presentations and scholarly communication.

Participate in service activities, including departmental and institutional committees, professional societies, and outreach to industry and government.

Qualifications

Ph.D. (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline or a closely related field, completed by the start of appointment.

Rank‑relevant, systems‑centric publication record in peer‑reviewed journals.

University‑level teaching experience in systems engineering and/or related areas.

Evidence of ability to secure competitively funded research as Principal Investigator.

Strong national reputation and record of senior authorship in the field.

Preferred Qualifications

Systems engineering scholarship in academic, government, or industrial settings aligned with Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering.

Demonstrated ability to secure competitively funded research and to collaborate with defense, aerospace, or national laboratory organizations.

Enthusiasm for teaching both distance and traditional courses, and experience in curriculum design.

Mentoring or advising experience and commitment to CSU’s land‑grant mission.
