Position Overview Team lead will oversee General Research Assistants (GRAs) and Undergraduate Research Assistants (URAs) during family‑facing research visits that occur in participant homes, public spaces, and the BIRC center at UGA. The team lead ensures protocol adherence, maintains rapport with families, and reports any issues to the research coordinator and principal investigators.
Position is grant‑funded and expected to continue through approximately 2028.
Eligibility High school diploma or equivalent.
Qualifications
Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully both orally and in written form.
Experience working with school‑aged and early adolescent children in research and pseudo‑medical settings.
Ability to follow standardized research procedures and monitor others in real‑time for protocol adherence.
Competent in managing schedules of multiple RA employees, ensuring adequate coverage for research visits.
Aware of how and when flexibility within visits can be granted to ensure participant comfort while adhering to research best practices and project protocols.
Duties / Responsibilities
Lead research visits
including home drop‑offs of materials and consent procedures, home visits for study participation, and visits at the BIRC center on UGA’s campus. (50%)
Meet with research teams weekly
to review problem cases, protocol questions, and other issues; meet with project leadership to discuss overall progress and process; provide updates to center leadership. (20%)
Lead and monitor data collection during visits
even when not present, and off‑load data collected post‑visit. (10%)
Communicate with families
to prepare for visits, answer questions, ensure informed consent, troubleshoot equipment, etc. (10%)
Organize URAs
to assist with visit preparation; manage supply use and place request orders to replenish visit materials. (10%)
Physical Demands
Lift research equipment, no more than 10 pounds.
Sit at a computer as needed.
