Senior Director, Supply Chain Planning Tools Developer/Architect
Posted 1 week ago.
About Altera Altera is a global leader in programmable logic and FPGA technology, enabling customers across data center, communications, industrial, automotive, and aerospace markets to build smarter, faster, and more adaptive systems. Our continued success depends on operational agility and an intelligent, resilient supply chain powered by advanced technologies — including AI and autonomous decision systems.
Role Summary Altera is seeking a forward-thinking Senior Director of Supply Chain Planning Tools & Agentic AI Architecture to lead the strategy, design, and implementation of next‑generation supply chain systems and intelligent planning agents. In this role, you will architect and oversee a portfolio of AI‑enabled planning tools that integrate data, models, and autonomous agents to optimize Altera’s semiconductor supply chain — spanning wafer fabs, OSATs, testing, and logistics. You will partner closely with engineering, manufacturing, IT, and business leaders to deliver a resilient, predictive, and self‑optimizing supply chain ecosystem built on scalable planning platforms and cutting‑edge AI technologies.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Vision
Define and execute a global roadmap for AI‑driven supply chain planning systems, incorporating agentic AI, predictive modeling, and intelligent automation.
Lead the design and deployment of next‑generation planning architectures that integrate data pipelines, machine‑learning models, and autonomous agents into Altera’s core systems.
Partner with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Product Engineering, and IT to establish a unified digital ecosystem connecting demand, supply, and production networks.
Drive business transformation through AI‑first planning capabilities—enabling proactive, scenario‑based, and autonomous decision‑making across the enterprise.
Agentic AI & Systems Architecture
Architect and lead the implementation of agentic AI frameworks capable of independently monitoring signals (supply, demand, logistics, risk) and taking corrective actions or recommendations.
Develop intelligent agents for:
Dynamic demand forecasting and scenario simulation
Supply allocation and inventory balancing across nodes
Risk detection and automated mitigation actions (e.g., supplier disruptions)
End‑to‑end visibility agents that interact with ERP, MES, and manufacturing systems in real time.
Build scalable AI pipelines for continuous learning, model retraining, and feedback loops across planning and manufacturing data.
Oversee integration of AI services into existing planning tools (SAP IBP, Kinaxis, Anaplan, custom platforms) using APIs, microservices, and MLOps practices.
Partner with data science and AI research teams to translate advanced models into production‑ready autonomous systems.
Drive governance, explainability, and ethical AI frameworks for decision transparency and compliance.
Tool Development & Data Infrastructure
Lead a global team of architects, developers, data scientists, and AI engineers focused on designing and maintaining supply chain planning and AI systems.
Oversee data model design, data engineering, and the development of real‑time analytics dashboards for proactive decision‑support.
Champion a modular and scalable architecture that allows for rapid experimentation, simulation, and deployment of AI planning agents.
Collaborate with IT to ensure robust infrastructure (data lakes, APIs, compute resources) that support AI workloads and decision automation at scale.
Cross‑Functional Leadership
Collaborate with business process owners to define measurable business outcomes—such as improved forecast accuracy, lower inventory days, or reduced risk exposure—through AI‑enabled planning.
Partner with external AI vendors, cloud service providers, and EDA/manufacturing software teams to enhance interoperability and leverage new AI capabilities.
Present progress and insights to senior management, quantifying business impact from AI adoption across the supply chain.
Cultivate a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and experimentation with generative and agentic AI capabilities.
Salary Range (Bay Area, California) $178,900 – $278,000 USD. (Including incentive opportunities.)
Qualifications Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Research, or a related field. Master’s or Ph.D. preferred.
15+ years of experience in supply chain systems architecture, planning tool development, or operations technology—with at least 5+ years leading large technical teams at a Director or Senior Director level.
Proven experience architecting and deploying AI‑driven or autonomous planning systems in semiconductor, high‑tech, or manufacturing environments.
Deep expertise in supply chain planning tools and processes: demand/supply planning, S&OP, inventory optimization, and scenario planning.
Strong knowledge of data engineering, MLOps, and AI model lifecycle management in enterprise systems.
Experience with modern data and AI technologies (e.g., Python, TensorFlow/PyTorch, AWS/GCP/Azure AI, LLM integration, REST APIs, graph databases).
Demonstrated ability to lead the convergence of planning systems, data analytics, and intelligent automation into a cohesive architecture.
Excellent leadership, communication, and executive stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience integrating AI or agentic automation with major planning suites (SAP IBP, Kinaxis, Anaplan, O9, or custom platforms).
Understanding of semiconductor manufacturing and FPGA product supply chains—including foundry, OSAT, and test capacity planning.
Background in multi‑agent systems, reinforcement learning, or decision‑optimization algorithms applied to complex, dynamic networks.
Familiarity with LLM‑based reasoning agents, generative AI, and natural language interfaces for supply chain operations.
Experience with digital twin architectures and simulation‑driven planning.
Certifications or advanced coursework in AI, ML, data science, or operations research (preferred).
Job Type Regular (Full‑time)
Shift Shift 1 (United States of America)
Primary Location San Jose, California, United States
All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, religious creed, sex, national origin, ancestry, age, physical or mental disability, medical condition, genetic information, military and veteran status, marital status, pregnancy, gender, gender expression, gender identity, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected by local law, regulation, or ordinance.
