Segment Overview The Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.

This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Purpose Maximize sales of Corning Optical Communications (COC) products within the state of Michigan. Work across the supply chain with end users, consultants, contractors and distribution representatives to position fiber optic solutions and execute a territory sales plan.

Key Responsibilities

Meet or exceed sales budget for all fiber optic products

Through regular sales calls, generate preference for Corning Optical Communications’ products over that of competitors

Ensure a balanced mix of sales call to end users, contractors, distributors, and consultants

Manage NPI contractor program and Consultant EAP Program in territory

Coordinate joint sales calls with distributor representatives to maximize sales penetration

Provide ongoing training to distributors to assist in effectively selling Corning Optical Communications' products

Provide timely documentation of meetings and maintain a project pipeline in Salesforce.com

Operate within assigned expense and promotional item budgets

Maintain proficiency in the use of the personal computer through Salesforce.com, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

Required Qualifications

Sales and/or Marketing experience preferred

Internally motivated and results oriented

Autonomy to work from home office effectively, outstanding people skills

Technical aptitude, solution selling ability, consultative communication

Business intellect, understanding and identifying customer pain points

Excellent organizational skills

Mental agility, adapts quickly in a changing environment

Ability to build relationships and work effectively within an organization

Collaboration, share vital information with key stakeholders to gain commitment

Competence to target and prioritize key customers, proven success in time/territory management

Desired Skills

Knowledge of fiber optic products and solutions

Highly competitive and ability to share success with team members and manager

Familiarity with selling through distribution

Exceptional training and motivational skills

Other Requirements

Valid driver’s license, travel within the state of Michigan

Based in the Detroit metro area preferred

Compensation The range for this position is $75,647.00 - $104,015.00 plus an attractive variable compensation package, assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
