The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions, is recruiting for a Maintenance Generalist Sub-Journey 2 for the Fairbanks Correctional Complex (FCC) in Fairbanks, Alaska. Facilities 30 Second Cut

Under general supervision, the incumbent will perform a variety of repair and construction tasks in a combination of several trades. These tasks are performed independently or cooperatively with fellow Maintenance staff and may involve supervising an inmate, a small group of inmates, or contractors. The incumbent is responsible for completing routine, special and emergency work requests and preventative maintenance tasks, approved and prioritized by the supervisor. This position is in a pre-trial prison facility and requires daily contact with prisoners, regular supervision of prison workers, and the additional responsibility of performing security tasks along with the maintenance duties assigned. Work must be accomplished in a highly structured, secure environment, which includes limitations on when and where work may be performed, with the regular routine care and accounting of tools and supplies. A security clearance issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is necessary to use APSIN. DPS will deny security clearance for any applicant who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor in this state or another jurisdiction, or who may be a fugitive from justice. Additionally, security clearance will be withdrawn if DPS discovers that material information was falsified or omitted at the time of the initial application for security clearance.
