About The Position Job Title: Radiologic Technologist Profession: Radiologic Technologist Specialty: Computed Tomography Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 3/12 hour shifts Hours per Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM Experience: Minimum 1 Year License: Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) Certifications: Advanced registry in Computed Tomography (CT) and BLS Must-Have: - Strong customer service skills - Flexibility and commitment to teamwork - Initiative and willingness to learn - Open to new learning experiences - Respect for diversity and demonstrated customer service values Description: Under general supervision, specializes in the performance of computerized tomographic radiological procedures on patients. May perform general diagnostic radiology examinations. Explains examination procedures to patients and prepares them for the examination. Reviews clinical data on requisition and performs appropriate examinations. Obtains additional information about the patient's medical history as necessary. Prepares procedure room and regularly replenishes stock such as linen and related supplies. Analyzes anatomical structure of the patient, sets up equipment, and performs the CT scan. Manually controls the equipment to obtain proper diagnostic information from the area of the body being studied. Administers intravenous contrast media, including utilization of power injectors. Monitors patients for possible reactions and provides immediate care if a reaction occurs. May prepare and set up sterile equipment, monitors, and supplies required for the procedure. Ensures adequate supplies are on hand and properly stored. Assists in performing complex sterile diagnostic procedures such as biopsies. Performs all imaging procedures while demonstrating principles of radiation protection. Resolves any image exceptions and ensures high-quality image delivery into the imaging system. Completes all study indexing in the radiology information system. Reviews and confirms clinical protocols before performing studies. Demonstrates teamwork and standards of excellence including open communication and responsiveness. Performs all necessary documentation in the medical record and within the radiology information system to support clinical and billing functions. May work in a fixed unit or in an ambulatory mobile unit. Potential exposure to radiation if proper precautions are not utilized. May be exposed to high-voltage equipment and possibly contagious patients. Occasionally may lift and/or move equipment and/or patients exceeding 10 lbs. High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required. Must maintain required hours of continued medical education.
