About The Position Job Title: Radiologic Technologist Profession: Radiologic Technologist Specialty: Computed Tomography Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Every other weekend, midnight shift Hours per Shift: 8, 10, or 12 hours Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) and the advanced registry in Computed Tomography (CT) or registry-eligible Certifications: BLS Must-Have: Must meet or exceed core customer service responsibilities, standards, and behaviors as outlined in the customer service policy. Must possess personal qualities including being self-directed, flexible, and committed to teamwork. Demonstrate teamwork, initiative, and a willingness to learn. Accept and respect diversity without judgment. Demonstrate customer service values. Description: Under general supervision, specializes in the performance of computerized tomographic radiological procedures on patients. May perform general diagnostic radiology examinations. Explains examination procedures to patients and prepares them for the examination. Reviews clinical data on requisitions and performs appropriate examinations. Obtains additional information about the patient's medical history as necessary. Prepares the procedure room and regularly replenishes essential supplies. Analyzes anatomical structures of patients, sets up equipment, and performs the CT scan. Manually controls the equipment to obtain the proper diagnostic information from the area of the body being studied. Administers intravenous contrast media, including the utilization of power injectors. Monitors patients for possible reactions as appropriate to the study and provides immediate care if a reaction occurs. May prepare and set up sterile equipment, monitors, and supplies required for the procedure. Ensures adequate supplies are on hand and properly stored. Assists in performing complex sterile diagnostic procedures such as biopsies. Demonstrates principles of radiation protection, which may involve shielding of patients and selecting appropriate equipment settings to reduce dose using other ALARA techniques. Resolves any and all image exceptions and ensures high-quality image delivery into the system, including viewing images and confirming image counts. Completes all study indexing, including study begin, study end, and the completion of the study in the information system. Reviews and confirms clinical protocols with the radiologist before performing studies. Demonstrates consistent team member standards of excellence including open communication, positive attitude, and fostering innovation. Performs all necessary documentation in the medical record and within the system to support all clinical and billing functions. May work in a fixed unit or in an ambulatory mobile unit. Potentially exposed to radiation if proper precautions are not utilized. May be exposed to high-voltage equipment and potentially contagious patients. Occasionally may lift and/or move equipment and/or patients that exceed 10 lbs. May work in different environments as required.
