Job Overview As the key finance business partner, the Senior Manager will liaise as necessary within and across functional areas to lead the financial planning, forecasting, reporting and business analytics for these areas. This role will be responsible for extending this support across other business units as operational business process changes. The role involves helping UNFI maintain and grow its financial health as we continue to transform and scale, ensuring constant communication with partners within and outside the organization to provide current statistics for our business health.
Job Responsibilities
Work closely with senior leadership to enhance reporting capabilities, structure conversations for smart business decisions, encourage open communication among the team, and establish a framework for accountability.
Provide informed strategic opinions shaped by an in‑depth understanding of the functional business, including emerging business issues for translation in budgets, forecasts, analysis, etc.
Lead, execute and own the annual budget process for the assigned business area, including identifying key budget drivers, modeling proposed budget scenarios, and partnering with the business to ensure alignment, agreement, and that the budget truly represents the objectives of the business.
Deliver periodic forecasts for applicable areas in partnership with the business, adhering to timelines.
Prepare monthly and quarterly financial analyses and materials; work with senior leadership to provide value‑added commentary to monthly and quarterly financial results, enabling swift and accurate decision‑making. Reviews focus on operational/financial performance metrics, historical results, budgets, forecasts, and trends.
Assist the business in aligning strategic plans as applicable to the specific business area to execute the company’s short‑ and long‑term goals.
Conduct organizational reviews to identify strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities, and evaluate operational effectiveness; facilitate the creation of action plans to close gaps on main opportunities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or equivalent.
Master’s degree preferred.
Experience
7–10 years of experience in financial and/or business analytic positions.
Strong strategic planning, financial, and operations/business background; not purely financial background required.
Demonstrated success in business partnership and leading and delivering solutions to complex business opportunities.
Financial modeling and analytic experience.
Budgeting and forecasting experience preferred.
Finance systems usage & implementation (UFIN) experience preferred.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Outstanding analytical skills.
Strong business acumen, supply chain experience preferred.
Self‑driven and motivated.
Comfortable working in a chaotic environment with constantly changing priorities.
Leads and directs the work of others across the company without direct line authority.
Strong administrative, organizational, and relationship skills.
Excellent writing and communication skills required.
Strong interpersonal skills, discretion, diplomacy, and judgment.
Strong teamwork ethic, positive proactive flexible attitude, ability to take ownership of responsibilities.
Ability to work under pressure and time constraints, handling several tasks simultaneously.
Advanced skillset in Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access and related software applications.
Good judgment required as direct supervision may not always be available.
Work Environment (Remote)
The position is classified as remote; the associate will perform work from their primary residence. Remote associates may work from the office as needed.
Travel may be required to company offices, distribution centers, or other locations for specific meetings.
Work is performed in a temperature‑controlled office environment. Incumbent may sit for long periods at a desk or computer terminal and may use standard office equipment.
Occasional stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required.
