Pay Range $230,000.00/yr - $335,000.00/yr

Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) – a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval – award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.

Qualifications Basic Requirements

United States Citizenship: Non‑citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

Degree of Doctor of Medicine (MD) or an equivalent degree in medicine or osteopathic medicine from a VA‑approved school during the year of study completion.

Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in any U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth or the District of Columbia.

Residency training: Physicians must have completed an accredited core specialty training program approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs that leads to board certification.

Properly accredited residencies: ACGME‑approved, AOA‑approved, or other residencies followed by a minimum of five years of verified U.S. practice as deemed appropriate by the local Medical Staff Executive Committee.

Physicians currently enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited programs may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs) under limited duty agreements.

PRPs must be fully licensed physicians and may only be appointed on an intermittent or fee basis; they are not independent practitioners and are not privileged.

Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Physical requirements: mental and physical ability to satisfactorily perform the duties, including laboratory and other federal screening as required.

Additional Requirement: Medical Director Duties

Provider scheduling.

Performance evaluations.

Day‑to‑day operational needs.

Precepting learners.

Participation in management meetings.

Preferred Experience

At least 2 years of recent full‑time experience treating acute and chronic patients in a primary care setting.

Duties and Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive primary care services to a defined panel of patients.

Conduct history taking, physical examinations, order laboratory and diagnostic studies, diagnose, and formulate treatment plans for acute and chronic conditions.

Lead a Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) comprising physicians, nurses, and clerical staff.

Coordinate care with multidisciplinary team members (social work, pharmacy, mental health, nutrition, etc.).

Maintain accurate clinical documentation in patient records.

Refer patients to specialists when required.

Monitor PACT team performance to ensure adherence to VA standards and quality metrics.

Provide outstanding customer service and collaborate with the patient advocate and administration on concerns.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Work schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.
