Manager, Screening and Performance Facilities Join our community and experience Emerson College. The Manager, Screening and Performance Facilities oversees day‑to‑day operations, scheduling, staffing, and technical support for the Bright Family Screening Room (BFSR) and the Paramount rehearsal and performance spaces. Reporting to the Director of Production Facilities, this role supports the academic mission of the School of Film, Television and Media Art and Performing Arts by ensuring all facilities are well‑maintained, technically robust and accessible to faculty, students and external collaborators.

Responsibilities

Oversee daily operations of the Bright Family Screening Room and the Paramount rehearsal and performance studios, ensuring smooth and safe use of all facilities.

Serve as the primary point of contact for faculty, staff, and students requesting use of these facilities; manage scheduling using institutional platforms.

Supervise and support the Assistant Manager, Screening and Performance Facilities.

Coordinate and quality‑check all academic and external screenings in BFSR, including ingest and playback of DCPs and other digital media; liaise with other MTP units, Academic Affairs, and Office of the Arts as needed.

Schedule and supervise overhires and student workers to support screenings and event setups.

Ensure maintenance of projection, sound, and AV equipment in all spaces; escalated issues to MTP engineering.

Track and manage equipment inventory for both BFSR and Paramount Studios; ensure facilities are prepared for instruction and production use.

Collaborate with PA and SOF to support rehearsals, classes, showcases, and special events.

Maintain clear operational documentation, including issue logs, usage metrics, and support tickets.

Coordinate with the Office of the Arts for public‑facing events requiring FOH staffing, ticketing, or licensed 35mm/16mm projection support.

Contribute to annual planning, budget forecasting, and capital project proposals related to facility upgrades or equipment replacement.

Support other MTP areas as needed.

Participate in regular team meetings within the MTP Department and TechMedia Division.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Film, Media Arts, Performing Arts, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience required.

At least 3‑5 years of experience managing screening or performance spaces, preferably in a higher education or production environment required.

Experience supervising professional and/or student staff required.

Demonstrated knowledge of digital cinema projection systems, DCP workflows, and AV routing required.

Familiarity with rehearsal and performance space operations, including booking systems and student‑centered service models preferred.

Comfortable working evenings or weekends as needed to support events and screenings.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Proficiency with digital projection systems, playback servers, and AV control platforms (e.g., Extron, Crestron, Q‑SYS).

Working knowledge of 35mm and 16mm projection formats; Massachusetts projectionist license preferred.

Excellent scheduling, time management, and organizational skills.

Strong interpersonal communication and customer service orientation.

Ability to triage technical issues and escalated effectively to engineering teams or vendors.

Familiarity with collaborative ticketing tools (e.g., Zendesk) and inventory tracking systems.

Able to support multiple events and spaces simultaneously with minimal supervision.

Experience managing and mentoring student employees or interns.

Physical Abilities

Ability to lift and move up to 25 lbs of AV or projection equipment.

Capable of extended periods in low‑light environments during screenings or performances.

Frequent walking between rooms, handling AV setups, and interacting with technical equipment.

Work Environment

Split between screening room booth, performance studios, and general office/meeting settings.

Variable noise levels depending on scheduled activities (screenings, rehearsals, events).

Flexibility required to support evening or weekend events as needed.

Comfortable working evenings or weekends as needed to support events and screenings.

Compensation: $57,250.00 – $70,200.00 annually, commensurate with experience.

Grade of Position: 23‑07E

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36.25
