Assistant Professor of Information Systems The Management, HR and Information Systems Area of the Orfalea College of Business at Cal Poly seeks applicants for two (2) full-time, tenure track, academic year positions at the rank of Assistant Professor in the primary area of Information Systems (IS), with appointment beginning August 17, 2026. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience of the individual selected, with an anticipated hiring range of $135,100 - $149,300.

The Management, HR, and Information Systems Area in the Orfalea College of Business encompasses a variety of forward‑thinking, career‑focused academic disciplines. Our faculty conduct widely recognized research and teach innovative courses in fields such as Information Systems, Business Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Organizational Behavior, and Business Strategy.

Required Qualifications The successful candidate must have completed or be close to the completion of a doctorate or equivalent degree in Information Systems or a closely related field from an AACSB accredited institution. The PhD/DBA should be awarded by the time of appointment in Fall 2026. Applicants are expected to demonstrate exemplary teaching, a strong publication record and research pipeline, and currency in their professional field.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment. Following a conditional offer of employment, a background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate may start work with Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may result in the withdrawal of the offer of employment.
