Job Summary Exciting Project Management Career Opportunities! The County of San Diego seeks a Project Manager for Public Works to lead and manage large‑scale infrastructure projects, ensuring reliable and sustainable infrastructure for our unincorporated community.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, coordinate, and oversee public works projects including road construction, traffic engineering, and environmental protection.
Develop project budgets, schedules, and quality control plans.
Maintain project documentation, contracts, and communication with stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, safety standards, and County policies.
Lead cross‑functional teams and provide technical guidance.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, land surveying, business administration, public administration, environmental science, urban planning, or a closely related field.
Five (5) years of project management experience in public administration, business administration, engineering, or related public works or land development setting.
Or, nine (9) years of combined education and experience.
Possession of a Master’s degree or higher in the major can substitute up to one (1) year of experience requirement.
Professional Engineer status is preferred and provides a 5% premium.
Benefits & Compensation Projected pay increases: 4.49% in June 2026 and June 2027 (3% Across‑the‑Board + 1.49% Market Adjustment). Engineers with Professional Engineer registration receive a 5% engineer premium.
