Position Overview Ziegler is seeking an experienced HR Manager to join the Human Resources team in our Chicago office. The HR Manager will lead the design, administration, and continuous improvement of employee benefits programs while overseeing the full recruitment and hiring process across the firm. This role plays a vital part in attracting, engaging, and retaining talent, ensuring competitive and equitable rewards, and fostering a compliant and positive employee experience. The manager will collaborate closely with HR colleagues and external partners to align HR initiatives with organizational goals.

Responsibilities

Lead the management and administration of comprehensive employee benefits programs, including Health & Welfare plans, liaising with insurance brokers, plan carriers, and payroll for accurate enrollment and program effectiveness.

Serve as the primary point of contact for associates regarding benefits inquiries, providing guidance, resolving questions, and offering resources to ensure understanding and satisfaction.

Manage the annual Open Enrollment process, coordinating communication, education sessions, and enrollment activities to maximize employee engagement and accurate enrollment.

Lead the annual benefits renewal process by working closely with carriers and brokers to evaluate plan performance, negotiate terms, and implement updates aligned with company goals and budget.

Along with the Department Head, develop the recruitment strategy and execution for all levels within the firm, including job postings, sourcing, screening, interviewing, extending offers, and onboarding.

Partner with hiring managers to develop effective talent acquisition plans.

Support compensation program administration by assisting with pay structure updates, market data analyses, job evaluations, and providing recommendations on salary adjustments based on data and internal equity.

Ensure compliance with ACA requirements and other local, state, and federal employment laws related to benefits and compensation.

Act as primary point of contact for the firm’s 401(k) plan including administration, annual true up, and audit; as well as serve on the 401(k)-advisory committee.

Develop and present standardized reports and analyses on recruitment, benefits utilization, and compensation metrics to senior leadership.

Champion HR process improvements to enhance efficiency and employee experience.

Handle sensitive employee matters with discretion and confidentiality including leaves, disability, and other personal employee matters.

Participate in bimonthly payroll review and serve as backup to run and process payroll, when needed.

Lead special projects related to benefits, recruitment, or HR initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related field or relevant work experience

Minimum of 7 years of experience overseeing full cycle HR and talent acquisition functions

Professional certification desired: PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP/SCP, CEBS, CPP, CCP, etc.

Knowledge of employment law and general HR practices relating to recruitment, benefits, and compensation

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and advanced Excel experience including scenario-based modeling and macros

Strong knowledge of HRIS and payroll software (e.g., ADP, Workday, Paylocity) ADP Workforce Now experience a plus

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including presenting firm wide information

High level of accountability, attention to detail, and ability to work with confidential information.
