Overview
The 1st Assistant Professional position is a highly visible and important member of the Golf Staff. Successful candidates will have a pleasant and outgoing personality with an understanding (and practical experience) of providing excellent service to our members and guests. Professionalism (appearance, decorum, integrity) and attention to detail are essential personal characteristics of a successful candidate. A desire to operate the golf shop, tournaments, and manage inside and outside staff is required.
The position offers flexible start and ending dates (Mid-March-October) for those who would like to secure a winter position or play in the winter tournament series. On site housing and two meals provided per day help economically, and the membership prides itself in taking great care of club employees.

Lake Shore Country Club, established in 1908, is a private club catering to 290 members and their families. Located just north of Chicago on Lake Michigan, the club provides the finest experience and amenities to members, their families, and guests. As one of the premier clubs in the Chicago area, our staff anticipates and exceeds members needs to provide a world class environment. Attention to detail in every aspect of the operation is a must, and the staff is expected to engage with members in a professional, friendly manner.
The golf course, first laid out by Frederick Law Olmstead Jr., has recently been renovated by Ron Prichard. Lake Shore typically records 11,000 rounds of golf per year with no tee times. The Membership and Professional Staff take a strong interest in helping Assistant Professionals progress in their careers.
Essential Responsibilities
Tournament operations experience utilizing Golf Genius to help oversee our various tournaments.
Assist the Head Golf Professional with leading and mentoring a team that includes teaching professionals, golf intern, caddie master, and outside operations staff.
Track inventory and manage point of sales through Cobalt club software.
Assist with merchandising and special orders through Golf Genius Golf Shop
Experienced in performing a Starter role as well as handling slow play issues on the golf course.
Competent and respected player that will compete in PGA Section events and play with members.
Assist with Player Development and Junior Programs.
