Lake Nona Wave is seeking an Event Sales Manager who is responsible for proactively selling and contracting social and corporate events. You will create and nurture relationships with new and existing clients, Wave Hotel team members, and partners and vendors. You will manage the experience for event customers, acting as the main point of contact, and communicate effectively with all related team members. Responsibilities
Strategically solicit corporate and social event business in the local and regional area.
Respond promptly and professionally to all event inquiries.
Establish strong rapport with clients, maintaining communication throughout the sales process.
Develop close relationships with clients to determine needs and expectations.
Work closely with the Associate Director of Events, event manager, and accounting to ensure timely billing and deposits.
Utilize iVvy to track inquiries, client communication, and deadlines.
Maintain up‑to‑date activity logs and documentation.
Conduct sales calls, webinars, and presentations to potential clients.
Attend local trade shows, networking events, and wedding fairs representing the hotel.
Coordinate and conduct site tours for potential clients.
Explain and execute all contractual terms to customers.
Follow up with clients after events for feedback.
Welcome incoming guests with courteous and professional attitude.
Reach budgeted monthly and quarterly goals.
Attend appropriate hotel, division, and department meetings.
Maintain strong understanding of Lake Nona and Lake Nona Wave Hotel.
Capitalise on up‑selling to maximise night stays and rates.
Focus on yield‑management strategies.
Communicate pertinent information to the conventions/catering team.
Handle walk‑in inquiries.
Track calls and inquiries that are “turned away.”
Resolve guest problems and act in absence of directors/supervisors.
Make decisions on VIP status and communicate accordingly.
Maintain strong communication with Conventions, Front Desk, Concierge, and Bell service.
Ensure communication of all services expected to resort staff.
Keep up‑to‑date knowledge of all hotel amenities and special events.
Assist other departments with necessary information.
Upsell other resort services and amenities to guests.
Maintain professional demeanor and attitude.
Monitor safety issues, report incidents.
Act responsibly toward company property, supplies, and equipment.
Maintain professional appearance and dress code.
Remain alert, courteous, and helpful to guests and colleagues.
Act as an active member and contributor to the group sales team.
Assume responsibility for all assigned local accounts.
Execute defined booking standards and criteria.
Execute approved catering contracts and terms.
Work directly with clients to secure contracts and collect agreements.
Suggest activities/products to clients outside the hotel and book accordingly.
Assist catering service managers with billing status, deposits, and payments.
Seek new approaches to grow business and guest satisfaction.
Ensure highest guest satisfaction.
Comply with all Lake Nona Wave Hotel policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
Qualifications
Extraordinary networking and client relation skills; good knowledge of local catering and wedding markets.
Extensive knowledge of food & beverage etiquette, guest relations, and service standards.
Strong computer skills and exceptional verbal/written communication.
Highly organised with strong attention to detail and ability to lead by example.
Sales‑oriented with exceptional interpersonal skills for guest satisfaction.
Previous F&B catering event management experience required, preferably in an upscale hotel, resort, or wedding market.
Desirable
Four‑year degree or equivalent education and experience.
Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
Previous experience providing service and administrative support in a team‑oriented environment.
People‑person who enjoys creating experiences beyond expectation.
Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
Proven sales and customer service skills.
Working Environment / Physical Demands
Regular walking, standing, and sitting 6‑8 hours per day.
Occasional climbing/balance tasks; use of hands/arms to reach, carry, pull, lift up to 25 lb.
Close, distance, and peripheral vision required.
Experience temperature fluctuations, light/moderate noise, and exposure to basic office chemicals.
