The Staff Accountant provides essential accounting and analytical support to the finance team, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting while also contributing to the company’s growth initiatives. In addition to reconciliations and payroll support, this role assists with budgeting, variance analysis, and segmented revenue reporting (in-store, catering, 3rd party delivery, and app). The Staff Accountant partners closely with the Controller to maintain financial integrity, support decision‑making, and prepare the company for continued expansion.
Essential Functions and Basic Duties
Perform monthly bank and account reconciliations; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
Ensure accuracy of payroll data and support payroll compliance requirements.
Uphold confidentiality of payroll and financial data.
Reconcile third‑party delivery deposits with internal sales and POS records.
Oversee AR/AP processes in conjunction with Administrative Assistant.
Support month‑end and year‑end close, including journal entries and account analysis.
Assist in preparation of financial statements and internal management reports.
Develop early‑stage FP&A capabilities, including:
Revenue and expense segmentation analysis (in‑store, catering, 3rd party, app).
Variance analysis against budget and forecast.
Contribution analysis for new store openings
ROI analysis of marketing initiatives
Maintain and improve financial processes, leveraging technology for efficiency.
Support finance leadership with ad hoc projects, financial modeling, tax and audit prep.
Qualifications, Required Knowledge and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred; associate’s degree or equivalent experience considered.
Minimum 1 year of progressive accounting experience; experience in restaurant or multi‑unit retail environments preferred.
Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, basic modeling).
Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends and provide actionable insights.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Effective written and verbal communication.
Working Conditions Primarily office‑based; must be able to sit and work at a computer for extended periods. Occasional lifting up to 20 lbs.
Potential to advance into Senior Accountant or Finance Manager roles as the company grows. Exposure to FP&A, financial analytics, and multi‑unit financial management.
