Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities around the world, and we’ve designed the system with the capacity, flexibility, and performance to serve a wide range of customers, from individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.
The Tooling Engineer will support the program on the path from R&D, through design validation, into production. You will develop, design, analyze, and implement custom tooling and equipment required for assembling and testing (QTP/ATP) the satellite. You will need to convert the requests from various teams into systems that are easy to use, cost effective, and accurate. In addition, you will be responsible for project management, cost estimate and scheduling. You will manage and support fabrication, testing and commissioning of the tooling into manufacturing.
This is a fast-paced, intellectually challenging position, and you'll work with leaders in multiple technology areas. You'll have relentlessly high standards for yourself and everyone you work with, and you'll be constantly looking for ways to improve your product's performance, quality and cost. Basic Qualifications
2+ years of hardware design and validation of components, subsystems and systems experience
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, material science, physics or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of SolidWorks or similar CAD experience and understanding of best practices for part design, and advanced assemblies

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $86,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign‑on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
