District: Plano Community Unit School District 88 TITLE: Bus Driver
JOB GOAL: To provide safe and efficient transportation for students so that they may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the District's curricular and extracurricular programs.
QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Valid license to drive a school bus. 2. Successfully complete the Physical Examination and Certificate for the Illinois School Bus Driver 3. Such additional health requirements as the Board may require.
REPORTS TO: Transportation Director/Superintendent, with line responsibility to Principals
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Obeys all traffic laws. 2. Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses. 3. Shares behavior expectations clearly with students and maintains discipline when students are on bus. 4. Keeps assigned bus clean and fueled. 5. Manages scheduled routes in an efficient and service-oriented manner. 6. Performs all pre-trip inspection tasks as required by law. 7. Notifies the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness. 8. Boards and discharges students only at authorized stops. 9. Exercises responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips. 10. Transports only authorized students. 11. Performs the bending, stooping and lifting necessary to assist in the daily transportation of students with disabilities, including the manual operation of the wheelchair lift. 12. Assists children in the boarding and exiting by bending, lifting and supporting students as needed. 13. Reports all accidents and completes required reports. 14. Enforces discipline regulations by reporting to the correct building Principal promptly all violations set forth in the student's handbook. 15. Accurately completes all assigned tasks, including District IDOT forms, license renewals, and updating all route information. 16. Demonstrates cooperation, courtesy and willingness to improve conditions and situations involving staff, parents and students. 17. Attends regularly, requests approval for time off, reports for work on time, and dresses appropriately. 18. Performs other duties as described in the Transportation Handbook and as assigned by the Transportation Director and/or Superintendent.
COMPENSATION: Based on background and experience, starting at $20.47/hour.
