Overview
Reporting directly to the SVP/Controller, the Accounting Manager will ensure all functions in the Accounting department are performed timely with the most efficient and accurate methods, in accordance with established policies and procedures. This includes the maintenance of the integrity of the General Ledger, management of subsidiary accounting and reporting, training and management of Accounting Staff, and in all areas of accounting conducted within the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage and assist in the daily operations of the Accounting department required to maintain the credit union's general ledger and related financial statements.
- Responsible for supervising and running monthly closing process in a timely manner and related monthly close activities including income and expense review.
- Calculate and prepare monthly Fixed Assets, Prepaids and accruals to meet anticipated liabilities.
- Responsible for ensuring all daily and monthly reconciliations are completed timely, including proper disposition of any significantly aged un-reconciled amounts in accordance with policy.
- Monitor daily liquidity needs for funding settlement.
- Ensure all general ledger interface activity and batch postings to the General Ledgers are properly captured, and discrepancies are identified, investigated and resolved.
- Work with direct supervisor on process improvement and workflow efficiencies.
- Responsible for daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly reporting of various financial reporting and metrics.
- Establish goals and objectives that align with Department policies, procedures, and objectives and key results. Conduct staff meetings within the department.
- Develop talent strategy to ensure expectations are understood, performance is measured and rewarded, feedback is provided timely to contribute to team's development.
- Responsible for directing, training, and supervising Accounting personnel and ensuring the team's optimal performance by hiring, coaching, and writing performance appraisals.
- Compliance and preparing the department for internal and external audits including regulatory exams.
- Prepare and submit NCUA 5300 Call Report quarterly.
- Develop and maintain an expert level of knowledge of core operating systems, including Fiserv DNA, Fiserv Prologue and other software tools.
- Develop written procedures.
- Assist in annual budget preparation process.

- Maintain and protect all sensitive data utilizing the highest standard of confidentiality and professionalism. Consistently display respect for all areas of diversity and levels of knowledge.
- Attend credit union training sessions, conferences and seminars as approved by the supervisor. Maintain awareness of policies and regulations related to duties and responsibilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements
Educational/Training Requirement:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years in Accounting Department in a financial institution preferably credit unions
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Accounting knowledge
- Ability to develop adeptness in credit union and accounting software programs
- Highly proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office
- Excellent data entry skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask
- Ability to work independently and exercise judgment
Salary
The base pay for this position ranges between $65,000 and $75,000. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
