Corrosion Control Technician I
Full‑time position in San Diego, CA with Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc.
Base Pay Range: $25.48/hr – $26.26/hr
Summary Support contractor personnel on the Corrosion Control Product Line/Shop to provide corrosion control services to U.S. Navy ships, shore commands, and other units, extending the service life of shipboard components.
Duties and Responsibilities
Perform ship‑checks, shipboard pickups and drop‑offs, and load and unload burn‑off ovens.
Sandblast, sand, grind, feather‑in, and vacuum components; mask, install protection, and hang components for powder coating.
Powder coat components in accordance with technical specifications and conduct blast profile, chloride, and coating thickness tests following SOP/UIPI.
Remove masking and protection, stage finished products, load finished products onto trucks, and deliver products to piers, ships, or local shipyards.
Use and maintain equipment such as burn‑off ovens, curing ovens, blast booths, powder coating booths, compressors, hopper media, gantry crane, forklift, hydraulic lift tables, wash‑down booth, dip tank, fluidize bed tank, decontamination trailer, coating thickness gauge, infrared thermometer, and decontamination trailer.
Adhere to shop SOPs, safety requirements (SWRM, OSHA), and document all in‑process square footage.
Assist shop workstations and recognize proper equipment operation, reporting abnormal conditions.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 1 year of related experience.
Knowledge of standard items, test procedures, and test memos.
Ability to read blueprints, technical manuals, and repair standards.
Ability to blast all products using various blast media and powder coat all products using various types of coatings.
Forklift operator qualification and ability to obtain a DOD Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Military experience.
Physical and ADA Limitations
Requires walking, reaching, sitting, and concentration in the presence of occasional noise.
Regular communication (hearing/speaking).
Ability to lift, carry, and move objects up to 50 lbs.
Ability to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
Ability to wear a respirator.
