Location: Baton Rouge, Louisiana – Position: Civil Engineer
Essential Duties
Assist in the planning, execution, and interpretation of geotechnical investigations for various project types.
Prepare geotechnical engineering reports, proposals, and design packages under direct supervision.
Collaborate with laboratory staff to analyze soil test data and incorporate results into design recommendations.
Prepare design drawings, calculations, and technical documentation for review and approval.
Support proposal development by providing technical input, cost estimates, and schedules.
Design deep foundations for bridges using LRFD and ASD methods.
Contribute to retaining wall and embankment design, ground improvement recommendations, and pavement design.
Maintain familiarity with current geotechnical design codes and software tools (AASHTO, FHWA, NAVFAC, etc.).
Work closely with senior engineers to gain practical experience toward P.E. licensure.
Develop cost-effective engineering solutions consistent with project requirements and budgets.
Requirements/Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering required.
Engineer (E.I.) certification required; P.E. eligibility within 2–3 years.
0–5 years of relevant geotechnical design or field experience.
Solid understanding of soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and geotechnical testing methods.
Proficiency with software such as gINT, Lpile, Settle3, SLIDE, SLOPE/W, or similar.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports and proposals.
Highly organized with excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills.
Demonstrated interest in professional growth and technical mastery in geotechnical design.
Physical Requirements
Ability to perform fieldwork as needed, including site visits and soil sampling.
Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally and work outdoors in varying conditions.
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
