Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Controller to join our clients accounting team. This position plays a key role in managing the financial aspects of construction and project-based accounting. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with
AIA billing ,
job costing ,
Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting , and
percentage of completion accounting . Proficiency with
construction ERP systems
such as
Foundation, Sage 300 (Timberline), or Sage Intacct
is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, review, and process
AIA billing
and payment applications in compliance with contract terms.
Maintain accurate
job cost records
including tracking costs to budgets, coding invoices, and supporting project managers with financial data.
Prepare and analyze
WIP reports , reconciling revenue recognition using the
percentage of completion method .
Collaborate with project managers and operations to ensure proper project setup, budget entries, and change orders in the ERP system.
Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations related to projects.
Support audits by providing project financial data and documentation.
Ensure compliance with company policies, contractual requirements, and GAAP.
Monitor project cash flow and assist with forecasting revenue and cost projections.
Provide financial insight and recommendations to improve project performance and profitability.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
10+ years of project accounting experience in the
construction or engineering industry .
Strong understanding of
AIA billing, job costing, WIP reporting, and percentage of completion accounting .
Proficiency in
ERP systems
such as
Foundation, Sage 300 CRE (Timberline), Sage Intacct , or similar.
Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with financial reporting tools.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with general contractors or subcontractors.
Familiarity with project management systems and integrations with accounting software.
