Professor, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering
Tenured/tenure‑track faculty positions at the University of South Florida, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department. Successful candidates may be hired at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level and are expected to begin in Fall 2026.
Job Description The Department seeks candidates with expertise in at least one of the following areas: Computational Supersonic and Hypersonic Flows, AI, Autonomy, and Robotics, Drones and Urban Air Mobility, Advanced Manufacturing, Aerospace Materials, or Energy Systems. Applicants whose specialization is limited to materials science without a strong aerospace connection are discouraged.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline and demonstrate excellence in scholarly research and publications, potential for sustaining an externally funded research program, and a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.
Responsibilities
Develop and publish scholarly research in one of the priority areas.
Secure external funding to sustain the research program.
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses and supervise student research.
Participate in departmental and university service activities.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field; record of scholarly achievements; meet university criteria for assistant/associate/full professor appointments.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated excellence in research and publications; potential for sustaining externally funded research program; strong commitment to teaching and mentoring; international recognition of work.
