Family Shelter Advocate (Grove Campus) SAFE Alliance seeks one Family Shelter Advocate for the Residential & Support Services Program in the Family Shelter department. The Family Shelter Advocate provides crisis support to families and individuals as needed, ensuring situational adaptability while valuing differences in client interactions and needs. They focus on instilling trust in survivors while addressing safety planning, immediate health and basic needs. The Advocate is organizationally savvy and stays abreast of application processes, enrollment procedures, and any new information about frequently used social services to benefit clients served.

About SAFE Alliance The SAFE Alliance exists to stop abuse for everyone by serving the survivors of child abuse, sexual assault and exploitation, and domestic violence. We are dedicated to ending violence through prevention, advocacy, and comprehensive services for individuals, families, and communities that have been affected by abuse. In the past two years, our community outreach and education has provided over 400 trainings to more than 7,000 community members, and our housing and shelter programs have supplied over 46,000 nights of care to more than 3,000 youth and adults directly affected by abuse. We also offer a 24/7 confidential SAFEline for walk‑in advocacy and crisis interventions.

Position Details

Full‑time, non‑exempt position.

Annual salary: $47,684 – $52,000 (dependent on experience) with an additional annual language differential of $3,600 for English/Spanish bilingual candidates.

Location: Grove Boulevard Campus, Austin. Some travel in the community or between campuses is required; remote or hybrid work is not available.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or a related field (equivalent professional experience may substitute).

Minimum of two years of human services experience preferred.

Knowledge of domestic violence, sexual abuse, human trafficking, child abuse, and homelessness issues and systems preferred.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer skills.

Fluent in Spanish (verbal and written) preferred.

Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Ability to lift up to 25 pounds; transport clients to filings, court hearings, or appointments may be required.

Valid Texas driver’s license with at least three consecutive years of driving experience (or one year if over 27 years of age) and a clean driving record of the last three years.

Completion of the 40‑hour Office of Attorney General Sexual Assault Advocacy Training Program within six months of start date, with annual continuing education thereafter.

Pass required background checks (including FBI fingerprint check if applicable), pre‑employment drug screen, and TB test where applicable.

Compliance with COVID‑19 policies; vaccination is highly recommended.
