Weekend Program MRI Technologist
Join our team as a Weekend Program MRI Technologist at Aurora St. Luke’s. Work in a dynamic, advanced MRI environment with five scanners (GE & Siemens). Perform a broad range of specialized imaging procedures, including Cardiac, Functional, Neuro, Body, Musculoskeletal, Specialty exams, and collaborate with a fast‑paced team of experienced technologists who are committed to professional growth and advancement.
Major Responsibilities
Operate magnetic resonance equipment to perform basic and intermediate diagnostic procedures, including musculoskeletal, neurological, orthopedic imaging, arthrograms, angiography, body imaging, and small joint imaging.
Obtain medical history from patients; compare requisitions to physician orders to ensure exam accuracy; prepare and administer contrast media under Radiologist direction.
Position patients and select proper scanning factors; adjust to attain appropriate images; provide magnet protection and safety in accordance with regulatory agencies.
Post‑process images as directed; accurately identify and label images with patient name, MRU number, and scan location.
Maintain records in regulatory agencies; enter patient and study information into the radiology information system; document billing codes to ensure accurate patient charges.
Identify equipment performance issues; conduct quality assurance tests and calibration procedures; report malfunctioning equipment; evaluate new products and equipment.
Perform patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, using proper technique.
Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary for care appropriate to patient age; apply principles of growth and development over the lifespan; assess data reflective of patient status; identify age‑specific needs; provide care in accordance with department policies and procedures.
Licensure, Registration, And/or Certification Required
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) certification issued by CAMRT, or
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) certification issued by ARMRIT, or
Registered Technologist (RT) registration issued by ARRT, and
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) registration and certification issued by ARRT to be obtained within 2 years.
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by AHA to be obtained within 6 months unless otherwise determined.
Education Required
Advanced training beyond high school, including completion of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology.
Experience Required
No experience required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
Knowledge of cross‑sectional anatomy and magnetic safety.
Competent in IV and venipuncture (if required by facility).
Excellent communication, interpersonal and patient service skills.
Ability to work independently.
Intermediate computer skills.
Team members maintain annual educational requirements for hospital‑based certifications (ex. DNV, CARF, etc.).
Physical Requirements And Working Conditions
Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders frequently.
Lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist; lift up to 20 lbs. over head; carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
Push/pull with 30 lbs. of force; perform sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation and magnetic hazards as well as blood and body fluids; must wear PPE as necessary.
Operate all equipment necessary to perform the job; have clear speech, vision and hearing.
