Assistant Professor of Medicine – Tenure‑Ineligible Clinical Faculty Track
The University of Virginia School of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology & Metabolism, seeks an Assistant Professor of Medicine to provide clinical care for endocrine disorders including bone, mineral, diabetes, thyroid, adrenal, gonadal, and pituitary, primarily at UVA Endocrinology/Diabetes and local outreach clinics. The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to medical education and scholarship/quality improvement.
The Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism is a collegial and collaborative team with a long‑standing tradition of excellence in research, patient care, and education. It currently has 32 faculty members (six full professors, eight associate professors, nine assistant professors, eleven nurse practitioners, and nine emeritus professors) and six endocrine fellows. The Division includes former leaders in national professional societies, including former presidents of the Endocrine Society, the American Diabetes Association, the Pituitary Society, and the American Society of Bone and Mineral Research. Faculty strive to provide the best possible care, training for the next generation of physicians and scientists, and make cutting‑edge discoveries in clinical and basic endocrine research.
The University of Virginia is in Charlottesville, a cultured, cosmopolitan community with a charming small‑town feel. Requirements
M.D. degree or equivalent
Board certification in Internal Medicine and ABIM board‑eligible/certified in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism by appointment start date
Experience in bone disorders preferred
Strong commitment to medical education and scholarship/quality improvement
