Department: Aviation and Technology Department, San José State University. Offers Bachelor of Science in Aviation (BS Aviation) and Master of Science in Quality Assurance (MSQA). Enrollment of 270 students. The department’s Flight Simulation Lab has over 10 simulators and access to Reid‑Hillview Airport’s 10,000 SF hangar, classrooms, laboratories, and offices.
Responsibilities
Demonstrate awareness of and address the needs of a diverse student population, including differences in age, abilities, cultural background, ethnicity, religion, economic background, primary language, sexual orientation, gender identity, and academic preparation, through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies, and advisement.
Organize all classes within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
Deliver all classes as scheduled throughout the semester or term, in the mode assigned (asynchronous, synchronous, bichronous, in‑person, or hybrid).
Collaborate with the Department Chair and Course Coordinators to develop course materials, teach courses effectively, maintain appropriate office hours in accordance with University Policy, and participate in the department’s peer‑review process.
Seek guidance from the Department Chair on University policies and departmental practices related to grading, testing, textbooks, office hours, curriculum goals, disability accommodations, academic integrity, and other relevant matters.
Required Qualifications
Awareness and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population, gained through cross‑cultural study, training, teaching, or comparable experience.
Ph.D. or M.S. in the field or related area required; under exceptional circumstances a B.S. with several years of experience may satisfy the requirement. Industry experience highly desirable.
Knowledge of the subject matter of the discipline to which the individual is assigned.
Evidence of satisfactory achievement in previous academic work.

Anticipated Starting Salary (monthly):
L‑A: $5,507 – $5,959
L‑B: $6,221 – $7,481
L‑C: $6,825 – $9,431
L‑D: $8,593 – $10,347
Range salaries above are anticipated monthly salary rates for full‑time AY faculty; part‑time rates are prorated. Faculty salary schedule available at https://www.sjsu.edu/up/docs/faculty-salary-schedule.pdf.
