Job Description Fire Protection / Mechanical Engineer Fort Collins, Colorado (Onsite) We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated
Fire Protection/Mechanical Engineer
to join our growing team. In this role, you’ll design and develop innovative fire protection and plumbing systems for complex building projects, including healthcare facilities. You’ll play a key part in ensuring safety, compliance, and efficiency across all project phases, while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Design fire protection and plumbing systems, including sprinkler layouts, fire pump sizing, ductwork, sanitary and domestic water systems, and medical gas layouts.
Perform hydraulic and mechanical calculations, Life Cycle Cost Analysis, and equipment selection.
Prepare detailed construction documents, specifications, and technical reports.
Conduct site visits, inspections, and field verifications.
Coordinate design efforts with architects, engineers, and contractors.
Serve as Engineer of Record on select projects and provide mentorship to junior engineers.
Ensure full compliance with NFPA, ASHRAE, IBC, and other applicable codes and standards.
Utilize Revit, AutoCAD MEP, and related design tools to produce high-quality deliverables.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET‑accredited).
Experience: Minimum 8 years as a
licensed Professional Engineer , with experience in
healthcare
projects required.
Technical Skills: Revit, AutoCAD MEP, MS Office Suite, Trane TOPSS, and Trace 3D.
Licenses/Certifications:
Active PE license (licensed in at least one U.S. state).
NCEES registration.
Certified Plumbing Designer, LEED, or Green Globes credentials are a plus.
Travel: Up to 20%, depending on project needs.
