Senior Product Manager – Identity & Access Management
Location:
U.S. – Remote
Position Summary:
Pearson Virtual Schools (PVS) seeks a Senior Product Manager to lead our Identity & Access Management program. The role requires deep expertise in enterprise identity solutions and strategic influence across engineering, architecture, security, and design. Responsibilities include driving the vision and execution of a critical platform modernization initiative, delivering milestones, and shaping the future of PVS’s platform at a strategic level. The position offers flexibility for U.S. Eastern Time and a remote-friendly work environment.
Responsibilities
Strategic Vision & Roadmaps:
Develop and own the product strategy and multi-year roadmap, ensuring alignment with PVS’s platform modernization goals and communicating a compelling vision to stakeholders.
Identity & Access Management:
Guide the development of a unified identity service for all user types, implementing modern authentication/authorization protocols (OAuth 2.0/OIDC, SAML, etc.), single sign‑on, and robust lifecycle management while ensuring compliance with FERPA, GDPR, and other privacy standards.
Cross‑Functional Leadership:
Coordinate and inspire cross-functional teams of engineers, architects, security specialists, UX/UI designers, and stakeholders, using influence to drive decision‑making and keep the team aligned.
Product Development Lifecycle Innovation:
Champion the use of generative AI and agent‑driven tools in product development, exploring AI for automated discovery, market research, requirements gathering, coding, testing, and analytics.
Execution & Delivery:
Oversee end‑to‑end execution, write clear product roadmaps and PRDs, prioritize features, maintain a groomed backlog, and ensure on‑time delivery of roadmap milestones.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including other product leaders, program/project managers, and executives, to ensure the IAM program meets the needs of learning products and operational teams.
Technical Depth & Decision‑Making:
Leverage technical knowledge to make informed product decisions, trade off approaches with architects, and select appropriate technologies and protocols.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement:
Stay abreast of industry trends, identify opportunities to incorporate new technologies (e.g., passwordless auth, adaptive security policies, AI‑driven anomaly detection), and cultivate a culture of experimentation.
Measurement & Accountability:
Define KPIs and success metrics (authentication success/error rates, support ticket reduction, onboarding time), track outcomes, and use data to guide decisions and demonstrate value.
Mentoring and Leadership (Individual Contributor):
Mentor junior product managers and product owners, share expertise, and act as an expert consultant for other product teams.
Required Qualifications
Experience:
8+ years of product management, including technical or platform roles and a proven track record delivering end‑to‑end initiatives, preferably in IAM or related technical platforms.
Domain Expertise:
Strong knowledge of IAM principles, OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, directory services, user lifecycle management, and privacy compliance (e.g., FERPA, GDPR).
Technical Acumen:
Ability to engage with architects and engineers on complex designs, hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred), microservices, APIs, event‑driven systems, and a grasp of AI/ML concepts relevant to product solutions.
Leadership & Collaboration:
Exceptional cross‑functional leadership, stakeholder communication, and influence without direct authority; Agile/Scrum experience in backlog prioritization and sprint planning.
Innovation Mindset:
Demonstrated interest in cutting‑edge technologies, generative AI, automation, and intelligent agents, with a track record of launching AI‑powered features or process improvements.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree required (Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred). MBA or advanced degree is a plus; equivalent professional experience may substitute.
Preferred Qualifications
Extensive hands‑on experience designing, implementing, and scaling IDAM solutions with robust security and regulatory compliance.
Experience in education technology or data‑driven industries, familiarity with Ed‑Fi, LTI, or student information systems.
Direct experience with AI/ML product features or incorporating AI into product management processes.
Relevant cloud or security certifications (AWS, CIPP, CISSP, etc.).
Experience in large‑scale matrix organizations, influencing senior leadership, and aligning competing priorities.
Compensation The minimum full‑time salary range is $135,000 – $175,000. Additional compensation may include annual incentive programs. Information on benefits offered is here.
