Director of New Business Development – Public Sector & HealthTech Location: Metro Detroit, MI (Hybrid)

Employment Type: Full-time

A high-growth organization at the intersection of public sector, healthcare, and IT solutions is seeking a Director of New Business Development. This role is responsible for hunting, securing, and closing multi-million-dollar contracts with state agencies, federal government entities, public universities, and large health insurers.

Goal: Scale company toward $50M–$100M in revenue.

Responsibilities

Drive new business development with state agencies, public universities, and health insurers (Medicaid, child services, mental health programs).

Lead and win complex procurement cycles including RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs.

Build strategic relationships with procurement officers, policy influencers, and executive decision-makers.

Partner with technology providers (AI, LMS, cloud) to co-develop and deliver innovative solutions.

Provide accurate pipeline forecasting, contribute to P&L planning, and ensure sales strategies align with growth and profitability goals.

Start as a hands-on closer, then build and lead a world‑class business development team.

Qualifications

10-15 years progressive B2B sales experience, with 8+ years in government/public sector markets.

Track record of closing multi-million-dollar, multi-year government contracts.

Strong knowledge of Medicaid programs, public health initiatives, universities, and regulated insurance markets.

Deep familiarity with government procurement processes, capture management, and compliance frameworks.

Solid financial acumen, including experience contributing to P&L and budgeting.

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field required.

MBA preferred.
