MongoDB’s Pre‑Sales Solutions Architect Specialist team is looking for passionate technologists to join our Pre‑Sales organization. The role has global reach and is responsible for assisting in complex, performance‑related proof‑of‑concept customer engagements.

The position is based remotely in North America, with a preference toward our East‑Coast hub offices. The specialist will play a critical role within the Go‑To‑Market team, shaping market approaches and product strategy.

Requirements

3–8 years of customer‑facing experience, including 3 years in pre‑sales for enterprise software.

Minimum 3 years of professional experience with modern scripting languages (e.g., Python, Node.js, SQL) or other programming languages (e.g., C/C++, Java, C#).

Significant experience in automated performance testing, including creating test plans, executing tests with tools such as Locust, Gatling, JMeter, and interpreting results via Grafana, Prometheus, or Kibana.

Knowledge of infrastructure deployments for distributed systems across cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure) and on‑prem systems (VMware, OpenShift, Kubernetes).

Ability to project‑manage cross‑functional teams.

Experience designing scalable, highly available distributed systems in the cloud and on‑prem.

Demonstrated ability to review complex application architectures with customers and provide improvement guidance leveraging technology.

Significant experience with data modeling in relational databases and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB.

Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to convey complex technical and business concepts clearly.

Ability to strategize with sales teams and recommend multi‑threaded account strategies, aligning MongoDB and ecosystem resources.

Travel up to 20%.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience selling databases and/or deploying applications with major cloud providers.

Experience in data engineering or AI/ML projects.

Experience transforming legacy systems into modern, scalable technology stacks.

Understanding of popular sales methodologies/frameworks such as MEDDPICC or Command of the Message.

MongoDB Certification.

Cloud provider certification.

Responsibilities

Design scalable and performant applications, systems, and infrastructure for large projects leveraging MongoDB.

Guide customers on architecture patterns and optimization strategies, communicating MongoDB’s business value to stakeholders.

Collaborate with sales to drive account success through planning, opportunity prioritization, and pipeline generation, owning the technical aspects of discovery, demos, proof of value, presentations, sizing, and documentation.

Continuously seek opportunities to innovate and improve MongoDB solutions and processes, conveying field feedback to product teams and mentoring team members.

Engage in ongoing training and professional development to stay abreast of MongoDB product suite and industry trends.

Salary and Benefits MongoDB’s base salary range for this role in the U.S. is: $104,000—$204,000 USD. Benefits for eligible employees may include equity, participation in the employee stock purchase program, flexible paid time off, 20 weeks fully‑paid gender‑neutral parental leave, fertility and adoption assistance, 401(k) plan, mental health counseling, access to transgender‑inclusive health insurance coverage, and other health benefits.
