Location Open to the following Harris Beach Murtha offices for a hybrid remote opportunity: Hartford, New Haven, Stamford, CT.
Description Associate‑level attorney to work in the Business Litigation practice group.
Responsibilities
Represent clients in courtroom and mediation/arbitration proceedings.
Take and defend depositions.
Research various factual and legal issues and collaborate with senior attorneys on strategies.
Draft memoranda, pleadings, discovery demands and responses, motions, briefs, and other documents.
Examine records and transactions underlying business disputes and investigations as to potential client claims.
Commit to working in a variety of commercial litigation practice areas.
Collaborate with colleagues across departments to provide comprehensive legal support to clients.
Meet a minimum of 1800 billable hours annually.
Qualifications
4–7+ years of litigation experience.
Experience in complex commercial litigation and/or bankruptcy preferred.
Admission to the Connecticut bar required.
Admission to the New York and/or Massachusetts bar preferred.
Experience with Connecticut State Courts and federal courts required.
Federal or state judicial clerkship experience preferred.
Juris Doctor from an ABA‑accredited law school and active member in good standing of the bar.
Excellent research and writing skills.
Clear oral and written communication skills.
Ability to function effectively in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
High organizational skills for prioritizing workload.
Capacity to absorb, process and understand new information rapidly.
High standards of performance, conscientiousness, dedication and self‑discipline.
Professional, cooperative, positive, and flexible attitude.
Ability to work with diverse personalities across all levels.
