Mandatory Qualifications
Level III - More than 7 years of experience working on complex projects with 2+ years in a leadership role as a Developer
More than 7 years as a Java developer including Java/J2EE, OOP principles, design patterns and SOLID principles.
Experience with popular frameworks, particularly Spring (Boot, MVC, Security) and ORM technologies like Hibernate or JPA.
Additional / Desirable Qualifications
Experience designing, building, and maintaining microservices architectures and RESTful APIs.
Experience with testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito) and build tools (Maven, Gradle).
Experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and understanding of Docker & Kubernetes.
Experience with DevOps principles and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins.
2+ years working in a federal or state government setting (Health and Human Services, Integrated Eligibility System programs preferred).
Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience with relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL) and SQL, and NoSQL databases.
Duties / Responsibilities
Support the modernization of the New York State Integrated Eligibility System (IES) via Java development.
Work on cross-functional teams to develop robust, scalable applications that improve delivery of health and human services (Medicaid, SNAP, etc.).
Contribute to both front-end and back-end development, thrive in Agile/Scrum environments, and provide strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Work under senior leads, collaborate with architects, testers, business analysts to implement high-quality code meeting requirements and compliance standards.
Impact system used by millions of New Yorkers.
Contribute to all stages of SDLC.
Identify and resolve production issues like memory leaks, network failures, etc.
Recommend upgrades and changes to existing Java infrastructure.
Assist in deployment of new features and monitor for successful integration.
Maintain technical and user support documentation.
Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices.
