Overview General objective: The Nutrition Services Supervisor aims to promote wellness through evidence‑based nutrition practices, efficient food service operations, staff development, and adherence to USDA/CACFP guidelines.

Reports to: Nutrition Services Manager

Supervises: Cooks, Cook Aides, Delivery Driver

Classification: Exempt, non‑represented

Pay Grade: EE

Essential Functions

Supervise Central Kitchen Staff

Perform monthly supportive supervisions to cooks assigned

Issue 90‑day performance reviews as well as yearly performance reviews

Order food, supplies, and supplemental items for all non‑vended centers in the program

Receive orders from vendors, ensuring proper items have been delivered

Prepare and sort food for delivery to centers

Act as primary head cook in preparing high quality, high quantity nutritional food, following standardized recipes as per CACFP requirements

Deliver or manage deliveries to centers in a timely manner

Supervise agency personnel in nutrition operation tasks as assigned

Ensure compliance with CACFP and kitchen sanitation guidelines across all supervised sites

Conduct training for agency staff in nutrition related operations as needed, and provide coverage as a cook when necessary to support site operations

Oversee “Kitchen Monitoring” inspections at all supervised sites

Complete all priority tasks accurately and punctually, as outlined in the Monthly Task List

Review monthly nutrition paperwork for supervised sites and report findings to the Nutrition Services Manager

Communicate operational needs, issues, or concerns of the main kitchen to the Nutrition Services Manager

Participate in required training to ensure compliance with CACFP/USDA regulations

Offer guidance to staff on budgeting, health and sanitation, vendor relations, and CACFP rules and regulations

Attend meetings, staffing sessions, training, and professional development activities as directed

Inspect facilities, food, and food preparation areas to uphold quality standards and sanitation regulations at the Central Kitchen

Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment, utilizing equipment and supplies responsibly

Work with the operations team to fulfill all licensing requirements and tasks

Perform routine maintenance of the kitchen and equipment, including daily and weekly cleaning

Adhere to and enforce agency attendance policy

Collaborate with program staff to provide catering services for events such as meetings, family engagement activities, and staff events

Complete routine maintenance of kitchen and equipment, including daily/weekly cleaning

Other Job Responsibilities

Order and pick up miscellaneous supplies as needed

Perform other duties as assigned

Perform all work in compliance with the Clackamas County Children’s Commission Code of Conduct

Confidentiality: Respect and maintain confidentiality of information regarding enrolled children and families, personnel issues, and other program operations as appropriate

Training: In consultation with supervisor, develop professional work goals and training plan. Participate in training as requested

Job Qualifications Education and Experience

High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent required

Two years of work experience in kitchen, preferably in an educational or institutional setting

Skills And Abilities

Good computer skills, including basic competency in MS Office Suite

Ability to positively interact with outside vendors and community members

Ability to positively and respectfully interact with families of diverse cultural and socio‑economic backgrounds

Ability to possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and insured vehicle available for use on the job (or have alternative transportation)

Ability to possess and maintain compliance with State of Oregon Criminal Background Registry

Ability to possess and maintain current First Aid/CPR/AED certification

Ability to possess and maintain a valid Oregon Food Handler’s Card

Knowledge of Child and Adult Care Food Program Regulations, Child Care Licensing Regulations and Head Start Performance Standards; in addition to best practices related to education and early childhood

Detailed record keeping and excellent communication, computer/database & keyboarding skills; data entry

Ability to speak before groups of individuals

Working Conditions

Frequent driving to program centers

Moderate walking, bending, and kneeling

Frequent lifting up to 25 pounds; occasional lifting up to 50 pounds

Under Oregon statute, after July 1, 1996, an offer of employment for this position is contingent upon the results of criminal offender information record check and, possibly, fingerprinting, conducted on applicants for employment in early childhood services agencies. Applicants who have been convicted of certain offenses or who refuse to consent to such background checks will not be hired for this position. Continuation of all positions is contingent upon future funding.

Salary Description: $53,100.06
