Position Summary
SUMURI, a fast-growing leader in digital forensics and technology solutions, is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Controller (or Director of Finance, depending on candidate experience) to lead our Finance Division. This role is responsible for full ownership of SUMURI's financial operations and works directly with ownership, playing a pivotal role in guiding financial strategy and stability in a fast-paced, agile environment.
Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the finance team, including oversight of in-house bookkeepers and accounting clerks. Oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, expense tracking, vendor management, and payroll coordination. Build and manage annual operating budgets, collaborating with ownership and department heads. Deliver rolling forecasts and scenario plans for proactive financial management. Provide accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to ownership. Offer strategic insights and financial recommendations to the executive team and proactively identify risks and opportunities. Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal financial policies. Act as the primary liaison between SUMURI and its external CPA, managing tax filings, audits, and end-of-year close. Work closely with the VP of Business Development and the SUMURI Sales team to evaluate the financial impact of incoming orders, quotes, or large-scale opportunities. Respond quickly to new business opportunities, sometimes requiring financial analysis and decisions within 24 hours. Manage the financial planning calendar, including budget season, tax prep, benefit renewals, and forecasting. Support cross-functional collaboration between departments including Hardware, Software, Admin, and Training.
