Job Summary
This position is considered Flexible / Rotation. Employees will work on a rotational schedule to ensure on‑site coverage of key IT functions, with on‑site work 3 days per week. The role supports UCSF Health’s electronic health record, including Epic/Apex training for hospitals, practices, affiliates, and community partners.
Responsibilities
Provide Epic/Apex training to UCSF Health hospitals, practices, affiliates, and community partners.
Collaborate with Epic/Apex application teams, informatics, and clinical/business operations to support end users, including front‑end staff, revenue cycle, physicians, nurses, and other users.
Educate and support practices in health technology applications.
Develop, document, train, implement, and support best‑practice standard work to improve the use of Apex/Epic and third‑party systems.
Provide excellent customer service to end users, track issues, and perform follow‑ups as appropriate.
Manage multiple competing priorities while meeting all program deadlines.
Achieve Epic certification within the first six months of hire and support a variety of Epic/Appex applications.
Department Description Health IT is responsible for all aspects of the clinical and business software applications of UCSF Health hospitals, practices, and affiliates. This includes the electronic health record (Apex/Epic) and approximately ninety‑five other software applications involved in patient care and operations.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in health care information technology, computer science, or related area, and/or equivalent combination of experience/training.
Epic certification completed within 12 months of start date.
3 – 5 years of relevant experience.
Broad and/or in‑depth knowledge of 1–2 areas of focus in clinical applications specialty area(s). Knowledge of systems and functions, including design, development, implementation, user support and training, maintenance, quality assurance, and system testing and evaluation.
Strong problem‑resolution skills, with the ability to quickly diagnose problems, and develop, test, and implement appropriate and effective solutions in a timely manner.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train, support, and work collaboratively with users of clinical information systems at all professional and technical levels.
Detail‑oriented, with proven organizational skills and the ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and see projects through to completion on deadline.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information and instructions to all levels of clinical applications users in a specific, clear, and concise manner.
Strong analytical skills and knowledge in documentation and reporting, with the ability to design and execute tests, analyze system performance data, and produce substantive reports and analyses.
Ability to work with senior staff and managers, serving as a technical resource and providing advice and counsel on issues of functionality, efficiency, cost‑effectiveness, policy, and performance.
Preferred Qualifications
Clinical license of RN, MA, or other technology license/certification.
License / Certification
Epic certification completed within 12 months of start date.
