Food Scientist – Kellanova
Kellanova’s Research and Development team is looking for a Food Scientist to develop food products people enjoy. The role leads complex programs from ideation through scale‑up, driving new products, value‑add transformations, and product quality improvements. This hybrid position is based in Battle Creek, MI, with potential consideration for Chicago, IL. Estimated travel is 15–30%.
A Taste Of What You’ll Be Doing
Drive business growth by leading and supporting research and development projects from end to end, managing technical and scientific investigations.
Demonstrate leadership as a project planner, coordinator, and technical expert, fostering collaboration and effective communication.
Use an innovative mindset to discover, advance, and evaluate new technologies in food/process research, impacting new and improved products and increasing efficiency.
Provide innovative, timely, and cost‑effective improvements—concepts, development, and commercialization—sharing scientific insight with stakeholders.
Leverage technical expertise and culinary acumen to design food and develop initiatives such as innovation, cost optimization, external partnerships, and process improvements.
We’re Looking for Someone With
Bachelor of Science in Food Science and/or Food Processing & Technology, or equivalent experience.
Experience in product formula optimization and evaluating emerging technologies in the food industry.
Proven track record of leadership, business acumen, cost consciousness, communication skills, and diplomacy.
Ability to foster good relationships across management and technical disciplines for effective project execution.
Compensation The annual salary range is $101,800–$133,500, based on location, experience, and skill. Discretionary bonuses are available based on company and individual performance.
