Base pay range $137,987.00/yr - $143,000.00/yr

Duties & Responsibilities Under direction of the Director, Department of Nursing, or designee, participates in planning, organizing, directing, coordinating and evaluating the nursing service and nursing education program of a hospital, hospital center or diagnostic and treatment center. Performs related work.
Examples Of Typical Tasks
Performs all duties of the Director of Nursing in his or her absence.
Participates in developing philosophy, objectives, policies and standards of nursing service and education.
Assumes responsibility for developing and implementing a staffing plan and directing recruitment and selection of personnel.
Develops, plans, coordinates, directs and evaluates assigned projects and programs.
Assists the Director in preparation of personnel, supply and equipment budgets for nursing.
Assumes responsibility for planning, directing, organizing and evaluating programs of orientation, training and continuing education for nursing personnel.
Assumes responsibility for directing the evaluation of personnel performance.
Participates in developing and maintaining sound relationships with community, labor and professional groups in developing new nursing programs and policies.
Assumes responsibility of day-to-day operations of nursing service.
Assesses nursing services by making rounds, conducting chart review and evaluating patient care.
Participates in a system of continuing evaluation of nursing service.
Participates in implementing an effective system of clinical and administrative nursing records and reports.
Updates and maintains required manuals. Participates in research projects as applicable.
Participates in operating and procedural committees as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Licensed and currently registered to practice as a Professional Nurse in New York State, plus (2) or (3) below.
A Master's Degree in Nursing Administration, Education or an equivalent field and a minimum of six years of satisfactory nursing experience, of which four years shall have been in a supervisory, teaching or administrative capacity; or,
A Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing and seven years of satisfactory nursing experience, five years of which shall have been in a supervisory or teaching capacity; or,
A satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience. However, all candidates must be licensed and currently registered to practice as a Professional Nurse in New York State.
