Security Officer

The Security Officer is responsible for assisting in providing a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, physicians, staff, and volunteers. Security provides a vital role in safeguarding buildings, assets, and grounds on the hospital campus.
Duties
Conduct regular patrols of the hospital, clinic buildings, and campus to identify potential risks
Assists with escorting visitors to proper locations
Assists with patients arriving to the Emergency Department
Monitors and operates surveillance equipment as well as rounding to ensure real time awareness of situations or issues
Responds to alarms, disturbances, and emergencies ensuring safety of individuals on campus
Performs routine inspections of doors, windows, and immediate surroundings
Checks and completes equipment logs as required
Prepares and maintains incident reports and daily logs that are factual and accurate – (No opinions)
Assists in providing guidance to individuals on campus such as safety protocols and emergency procedures to help ensure their safety
Assists in evacuations or other emergency actions when necessary
Assists with disinfecting the E.R waiting room and wheelchairs as time allows
Assists with helicopter pad setup, landings, escort and assist crew with patient transfers
Qualifications
Previous experience in Security, Military, or Law enforcement preferred
Exceptional attention to details
Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
Excellent verbal communication skills while interacting with others
Excellent written communications for creating reports and reporting issues
High school diploma or equivalent is required
Must complete IAHSS certification with-in 1st year of employment
Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Physical Requirements
Physically fit to handle patrolling,
Must be able to sit,
stand, or walk for long periods, and be able to respond quickly to incidents
Ability to remain calm and composed during emergencies or high pressure situations
Must be mentally and physically fit in the event of high risk patient interaction
OSHA Exposure Classification
May come in contact with blood or body fluids
May be in areas that require hearing protection during rounding
May have to complete rounding in construction areas
