Description: Networking System Administrator - Linux
Must have experience with utilities used to manage Linux OS disk file systems.
Must have experience analyzing and implementing Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) requirements in Linux OS.
Must have experience with utilities used to create and configure network connections in Linux OS.
Must have experience implementing Windows Active Directory User Authentication in Linux OS.
Must be proficient in reading and modifying User/Group permissions in Linux OS.
Must be proficient in reading, analyzing, and troubleshooting errors within Linux OS.
Must have experience installing, updating, and upgrading Linux Operating Systems (OS).
Due to federal contract requirements, United States Citizenship and position appropriate security clearance is required. (e.g. Active TS/SCI security clearance with customer appropriate polygraph).
Primary Responsibilities The selected individual will be responsible for monitoring infrastructure systems, applications, and processes, ensuring all issues are identified, tracked, and resolved timely. She/he will provide support for all infrastructure systems and will respond to hardware and software incidents and work with senior system administrators, at times remotely from other locations. Other responsibilities include:
Quickly responding to IT Help Desk calls and emails professionally; ensuring issues are resolved or escalated and following up with teams and users for satisfactory remediation.
Identifying, troubleshooting, and correcting hardware and software issues including network connectivity.
Utilizing enterprise monitoring solutions to identify alarms triggered against various environments.
Proactively contacting customers when infrastructure processes are significantly delayed or may impact their ability to complete a business function on time.
Executing the process for managing information assurance vulnerability alerts (IAVAs) and system security scanning for equipment suites in accordance with the System Security Plans to rapidly and accurately identify and remediate IAVAs.
Initiating IAVA responses and system security scans, completing remediation, and extending IAVA patches and security updates on various IT and network systems.
Providing technical assistance to companion work groups in support of overlapping projects such as implementing IT enhancements and optimizing systems.
Maintaining good inter-departmental relations, communicating with users, and publishing status of system outages.
Participating in the creation and ongoing maintenance of documentation to ensure clear, concise, and accurate information is readily available to assist with incident resolution.
Required Qualifications:
At least 5 years of direct, hands‑on experience providing assistance to users in an IT customer service capacity.
At least 5 years of experience working on an IT/software program that utilizes complex equipment/systems (e.g., Network Switches, Routers, LANs & cabling, Windows/Linux operating systems, VMware).
Experience installing, updating, and upgrading Linux Operating Systems (OS).
Experience with utilities used to manage Linux OS disk file systems.
Experience analyzing and implementing Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) requirements in Linux OS.
Experience with utilities used to create and configure network connections in Linux OS.
Experience implementing Windows Active Directory User Authentication in Linux OS.
Proficient in reading and modifying User/Group permissions in Linux OS.
Proficient in reading, analyzing, and troubleshooting errors within Linux OS.
Experience with IT system optimization, monitoring, and technical set‑up and troubleshooting.
Experience with Data Center design and configuration (e.g., rack and stack, power, placement).
Experience gathering data for and documenting technical processes.
Experience documenting IT issues and providing detailed and comprehensive status reports and follow‑ups.
Experience analyzing and addressing IAVAs/CVEs—response, remediation, system security scans, extending IAVA patches and security updates on IT and network systems.

Ability to respond to emergency system administration, operations, and maintenance problems on a limited as‑needed on‑call basis.
Ability to travel up to 25% of the time to local program locations (not overnight); additional travel to CONUS and OCONUS may also be required (overnight).
Preferred Qualifications
BS degree in a technical field and at least 8 years of relevant experience.
Experience with security standards, software architectures, and Network security technologies (Multiple Domain, PKI, SSP, Vulnerability Assessment).
Experience working with Enterprise Domain Services.
Experience building and deploying Virtual Machines within an On‑Premises Data Center.
Experience with scripting and/or automation tools.
Experience reading, analyzing, and addressing security vulnerabilities discovered from automated scanning tools.
Experience supporting a large, complex software configuration management and development program.
Experience working in an Agile Development Environment or on an Agile Team.
Salary Range: $168,000 - $220,000 (Annually) Annual Compensation Figures listed for this position serve as a general guideline and are not a guarantee of compensation. Compensation will vary dependent upon factors including but not limited to: Government contract rates; education; relevant prior work experience, knowledge, skills, and competencies; certifications, and geographic location.
