Kforce's client, headquartered in Saint Louis, MO, is seeking a Project Accountant to serve as a key liaison between the Finance and Construction teams. This role will oversee all financial aspects of construction projects, including project setup, client billing, subcontractor payments, reporting, and financial analysis. The ideal candidate will ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency throughout the project accounting lifecycle while supporting informed decision‑making across departments.
Responsibilities
Oversee project financials, including revenue, costs, and margins, ensuring accurate data flow through company systems
Set up and maintain project budgets, contracts, and financial records in accounting and project management systems
Prepare and issue accurate client invoices, ensuring compliance with contract terms, tax requirements, and timely collections
Partner with Project Managers on financial management, including subcontractor billing, supplier accounts, and change orders
Compile and analyze cost forecasts and budget-to-actual results to support informed project and management decisions
Coordinate subcontractor payments, verifying documentation and alignment with approved contracts and change orders
Support month‑end close, reporting, and forecasting activities for assigned projects
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
2-3 years of experience in accounting/finance roles
Experience with Microsoft products
Project Accounting experience and/or Construction industry experience preferred
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
