About CerCo CerCo is an Ohio-based manufacturer of industrial ceramics, such as grinding media, mill linings, kiln furniture systems, wear resistant ceramic solutions, ceramic armor plates, and advanced structural components.

Overview We are seeking an experienced and highly analytical Financial / Accounting Controller to oversee the accounting, reporting, and financial management activities across our four corporate entities. The Controller will play a critical leadership role, providing accurate financial reporting, maintaining robust internal controls, and supporting strategic decision‑making in partnership with company executives and the Board of Directors.

This position requires strong hands‑on accounting experience within an industrial manufacturing environment, deep understanding of cost accounting and consolidation, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional leaders across operations, sales, supply chain, HR, and IT.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred).

Minimum 7–10 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 3 years in a manufacturing controller or senior accounting role.

Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, and financial consolidation.

Experience working with multi‑entity and/or multi‑location operations.

Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems (SYSPro a plus) and advanced Excel skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills — capable of interacting daily with functional teams and presenting clearly to executives and the Board.

Responsibilities

Financial Oversight & Reporting

Manage all accounting operations across four entities, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, fixed assets, and payroll.

Prepare and consolidate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.

Lead monthly closing and financial review processes to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and completeness.

Provide detailed analysis and commentary on financial performance to the executive team and Board of Directors.

Coordinate external audits and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements.

Strategic & Operational Support

Partner with executive leadership on annual budgets, forecasts, and long‑range financial planning.

Develop and maintain cost accounting systems to monitor manufacturing performance, inventory valuation, and margins.

Identify and implement process improvements, financial controls, and reporting efficiencies across entities.

Provide day‑to‑day financial guidance to operational managers, purchasing, production, and sales teams.

Governance & Compliance

Ensure adherence to internal control policies, procedures, and accounting standards.

Lead compliance with regulatory, banking, and insurance reporting requirements.

Support risk management, internal audits, and corporate governance initiatives.

Team Leadership

Supervise and mentor accounting staff across all entities.

Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and cross‑functional collaboration.
