This role is remote with quarterly visits to your home office location in Jersey City, NJ or Las Vegas, Nevada.
What You’ll Do
Lead the design and evolution of our payments architecture at Caesars Digital, aligning with our future payments strategy. This includes cashier and frontend architecture; services and components related to payments (and their integrations); payment vendors and their platforms; payments routing & orchestration; fraud prevention tools; data integration with our data platforms through to the financial reconciliation process; essentially all things Digital Payments, Risk and Fraud.
Work closely with engineering, product, compliance, and payments teams to ensure our payments infrastructure meets business needs and regulatory requirements.
Lead architectural discussions, provide hands‑on guidance, and ensure best practices in Non‑Functional Requirements (NFRs) scalability, security, reliability and performance.
Identify opportunities to improve existing systems, reduce technical debt, and modernize legacy components in the payments space.
Create and maintain detailed architectural documentation, including solution definitions, system design diagrams and data flow models.
Collaborate with Tech Leads and engineering teams to guide implementation and resolve technical challenges.
Provide hands‑on support during critical phases of project delivery to ensure alignment with architectural standards.
Communicate technical concepts and trade‑offs effectively to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Identify risks, dependencies, and technical bottlenecks, proposing mitigation strategies as needed.
Evaluate and recommend new technologies, frameworks, and tools to enhance system capabilities.
Engage with other Solutions Architects to maintain architectural standards to drive consistency and efficiency across the organization.
Monitor the growth and scale of underlying services and platforms, engaging with our Platform Engineers to maintain them.
What You’ll Need
5+ years of experience in software architecture, with a strong focus on payments systems. Ideally some exposure to Fintech ecosystems, concepts such as wallets and crypto‑currencies.
6–9 years of software engineering experience, ideally in high‑volume, regulated environments.
Deep understanding of payment services, standards, protocols and industry best practices (PCI compliance, tokenization and secure transaction flows).
Thorough knowledge of payment, risk management and fraud prevention processes and services and reporting systems related to this domain.
Modern API / Service based architecture experience and a track record of delivering scalable payments solutions that perform well under very high transactional load.
Strong knowledge of cloud‑native architectures (preferably AWS), Kubernetes, micro‑services, and event‑driven systems (Kafka or similar).
Expertise in designing and building APIs (REST and GraphQL) and data modeling for both relational and NoSQL databases.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence across teams and levels.
Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
Interest in the use of AI based technologies and services.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive results in a fast‑paced environment.
Effective communicator with excellent collaboration skills across diverse teams.
The salary range for this position is $150,000 – $212,750 USD, which is dependent on several factors including relevant experience, geography, business needs and market demand. This role may offer medical, vision, and dental insurance; life insurance; disability insurance; a 401(k)-matching program; among other employee benefits.
This role may also be eligible for short‑term or long‑term incentive compensation, including, but not limited to, cash bonuses and stock program participation. This role includes paid Flexible Time Off and paid company holidays.
