Position: Controller The Controller oversees all accounting operations, including month‑end close, financial reporting, and team supervision. This role manages a team of three and supports broader administrative functions such as the museum store, facilities, and security. The Controller also handles contract management for HR, payroll, and IT services, ensuring smooth coordination across departments. This is a key leadership position requiring strong financial expertise, operational oversight, and a collaborative approach to supporting the museum’s mission.
What You’ll Do:
Compile, review, and prepare monthly financial statements and reports.
Oversee all finance functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and grant reporting.
Maintain internal controls for revenue, budgets, and expenditures.
Serve as liaison with external auditors, financial entities, and accounting firms for audits and tax filings.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations and reporting standards.
Manage audit processes and coordinate with external auditors for annual reviews.
Prepare and analyze general ledger accounts, journal entries, and financial performance reports.
Handle cash receipts, revenue posting, and monthly Florida sales tax filings.
Manage invoicing, budget preparation, and reporting for grants.
Support departmental budgeting and financial planning.
Oversee financial data accuracy and ensure adherence to GAAP.
What You’ll Need:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration required.
8+ years of experience in financial management required. Non‑profit experience preferred.
5+ years of experience in a leadership role preferred.
