This an ON-SITE role, located at our Global HQ in Omaha NE*
As part of Valmont’s Environmental, Health, Safety (EHS), Sustainability, and Stewardship team, this role manages global EHS, sustainability, and stewardship reporting and communications to ensure compliance, transparency, and alignment across business segments, senior leaders, and regulatory stakeholders. Reporting to the VP, Global Safety, Health & Environmental, the role develops strategic communication materials, supports ESG-related inquiries, leads sustainability disclosures, and ensures timely, accurate reporting across jurisdictions. This position requires strong project management, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives with precision.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Reporting & Communications:
Develop and execute a global EHS and sustainability communication roadmap.
Prepare the Annual Sustainability Report and related disclosures in collaboration with Corporate Communications.
Ensure jurisdictional EHS and sustainability reports are accurate, timely, and aligned across all regions.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Support Investor Relations with ESG inquiries from the investment community; prepare materials for Sustainability Steering Committee (SSC) meetings.
Track and analyze investor and customer inquiries; provide quarterly metrics and trend analysis to SSC.
Respond to customer EHS and sustainability requests, including regulatory compliance and environmental performance questions.
Regulatory & ESG Oversight:
Manage third-party ESG raters/rankers (e.g., S&P CSA, Ecovadis, CDP, ISS) and regulatory monitoring partnerships; lead quarterly reviews with SSC and affected teams.
Monitor evolving regulations; assess impacts and communicate emerging requirements across the organization.
Ensure sustainability disclosures align with global frameworks such as GRI, GHG Protocol, TCFD, and ISSB.
Data Analysis & Benchmarking:
Conduct annual benchmarking against peers on EHS, sustainability, and ESG performance.
Track market intelligence, buy/sell-side trends, and competitor disclosures to inform leadership strategy.
Training & Internal Support:
Develop tools, briefing materials, and training resources to improve organizational understanding of EHS and sustainability requirements.
Represent Valmont at conferences, roadshows, and council meetings; support executive communications.
Travel:
Requires up to 20% domestic and international travel, including overnight stays.
Required Qualifications Of Every Candidate
Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years relevant experience; or Associate’s degree with 7+ years; or 9+ years progressive experience in EHS, sustainability, communications, or ESG.
Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to present to diverse audiences, including senior executives and external stakeholders.
Proven project management capabilities with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Experience with sustainability reporting frameworks, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder engagement.
Ability to work independently while collaborating across business segments and functions.
Willingness to travel up to 20% for business needs.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Sustainability, or Communications.
5+ years in a public company sustainability/ESG or corporate communications role.
Familiarity with ESG rating agencies, reporting standards, and sustainability software platforms.
Professional presence with experience supporting investor relations or external communications at the executive level.
