My Friend’s House Family & Children’s Services seeks an experienced Philanthropy Officer to lead fundraising initiatives, grow donor relationships, and support our mission of serving boys ages 12–18 in state custody. The Philanthropy Officer plays a critical role in advancing the mission of our organization by developing and implementing strategies to engage donors and secure funding. This position requires a dynamic individual who is passionate about philanthropy and skilled in building relationships with stakeholders. The ideal candidate will possess strong event planning abilities, excellent negotiation skills, and a deep understanding of nonprofit management.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising and development plan (events, grants, annual fund, capital campaigns, planned giving).
Cultivate, steward, and expand donor and corporate sponsor relationships.
Oversee donor database, grant reporting, and fundraising communications.
Manage social media, marketing, and public relations to increase visibility.
Plan and execute at least one major annual fundraising event (up to 500 attendees).
Recruit, engage, and manage volunteers and community partnerships.
Represent My Friend’s House as a key spokesperson and ambassador at community events.
Monitor organizational finances, budget planning, and reporting in coordination with staff.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in fundraising, marketing, business, or related field.
Proven nonprofit fundraising experience required (annual funds, capital campaigns, planned giving, events, donor relations).
Strong financial management and reporting skills (including audit and IRS 990 preparation).
Excellent communication, presentation, and public speaking abilities.
Ability to lead, collaborate, and inspire staff and volunteers.
Flexible schedule; ability to work evenings/weekends for events.
Valid Tennessee driver’s license and ability to pass required extensive background checks.
About the Role This is a full‑time, exempt position reporting to the Executive Director. It requires a proactive leader who can balance strategy with hands‑on execution, build strong community relationships, and drive revenue growth to support our mission.
Location Must live within a 35‑mile radius of our address: 626 Eastview Circle, Franklin, TN.
