Campus Safety Officer – Regis University – Northwest Denver Campus
As a member of the Campus Safety Department, the Campus Safety Officer is a Campus Security Authority (CSA). The purpose of a Campus Safety Officer is to contribute to a safe and secure learning and working environment for all members of the Regis University Community, its guests and visitors.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Campus Patrol & Monitoring Patrol and inspect campus buildings and grounds to identify safety and security concerns. Lock/unlock facilities and verify authorized building use. Monitor fire, lighting, and maintenance hazards; report issues to Physical Plant. Check alarm, surveillance, and emergency communication systems
Emergency Response & Incident Management Serve as incident commander during campus emergencies, coordinating with police, fire, and EMTs. Investigate incidents, ensure immediate safety, and document for administrative or legal action. Prepare reports and provide testimony as required.
Policy Enforcement Enforce University policies, student conduct regulations, and applicable laws.
Communication & Collaboration Maintain communication with law enforcement, campus departments, and external agencies. Provide safety information and assistance to students, staff, faculty, and visitors. Respond to visitor inquiries and requests for information.
Community Support Services Assist with vehicle lockouts, escorts, and event security (gate, crowd, and parking control). Open rooms or offices for authorized users.
Training & Education Participate in departmental training and meetings to maintain certifications. Deliver educational presentations on campus safety topics.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Must be at least 21 years of age at time of hiring.
One (1) year of law enforcement, campus safety or security experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, as determined by the Director.
Must successfully pass a criminal background check.
Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable under University guidelines.
Must be in possession of a valid City and County of Denver Security Guard License prior to performing job duties as a Campus Safety Officer. Required documents to obtain the license include:
Certificate of Security Guard Training Completion completed within the last 60 days (16 hours)
Certificate of Physical and Mental Fitness completed within the last 60 days
Copy of Valid State or Federally Issued Identification
Headshot that meets Badging Criteria
Letter of Hire from your intended employer completed within the last 60 days
Affidavit of Criminal and Employment History
FBI background check run within the past 60 days
Physical and Mental Requirements
Maintain a level of physical fitness necessary to perform job duties.
Possess the ability to stand, walk, run, climb stairs and lift/move 50 pounds.
Sufficient auditory and visual acuity to observe activities, detect hazards, read documents, and identify individuals or vehicles—may include night vision and color distinction.
Working Conditions Work outdoors in all weather conditions and temperature extremes requiring extensive foot, bicycle, or vehicle patrol. There is a risk of physical harm incurred by the duties of this position.
