What to Expect (Job Responsibilities)
Perform routine and complex technical procedures according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot equipment and software to ensure proper functionality
Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care
Analyze chromosomes, including imaging and karyotyping of cytogenetic specimens
Review test requisitions to gather pertinent details for analysis
What is Required (Qualifications)
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
Minimum 1 year of clinical laboratory testing experience required
Experience in FISH and Chromosomes for Oncology Cytogenetics is required
Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)
Previous experience with cytogenetic analysis of metaphase spreads via computerized images is highly preferred
ASCP certification in Cytogenetics (ASCP CG) highly preferred
Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
