Senior Development / Project Accountant
Overview
The Senior Development / Project Accountant will oversee all accounting functions for multiple project-level entities, producing accurate and timely financial reports and quarterly statements. This position requires full‑cycle accounting expertise, including accounts receivable and payable management, lease accounting, debt service, reconciliations, and cash‑flow reporting. The role works closely with the Accounting Manager to provide detailed financial reporting and analysis to investors and internal leadership.
The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, highly organized, and comfortable working both independently and in a hybrid environment. This position does not include direct reports but offers the opportunity to assist in developing and implementing accounting policies, procedures, and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare supporting documentation and record complex journal entries related to cash, prepaids, accrued expenses, deferred revenue, leases, debt, and investments
Record and reconcile intercompany activity, including payables, receivables, and lease payments
Perform balance sheet reconciliations and roll‑forwards
Manage and record funding requests and cash‑flow activity
Prepare consolidated financial statements for management, investors, and lenders, including intercompany eliminations
Create and review reports such as net cash flow and debt service coverage ratios
Support the annual audit process by preparing financial statements, footnotes, and audit documentation
Conduct ad hoc financial analyses and reporting as needed
Assist with process improvements and other tasks as assigned by management
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
Minimum of four (4) years of progressive accounting experience
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (including pivot tables, SUMIFS, VLOOKUP, and other key functions)
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or CPA eligibility preferred but not required
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Skills and Abilities
Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Experience identifying and implementing process improvements
Works effectively both independently and within a team environment
Exercises sound judgment and discretion in handling confidential information
