Business Systems Analyst III – Enterprise Payments (Remote)
Location:
Remote – First Citizens Bank may hire for the role in Arizona (AZ), Florida (FL), Georgia (GA), North Carolina (NC), or Texas (TX).
Overview This role leads system analysis efforts, delivers strategic insight, and serves as a technical expert for business systems within the Bank. The analyst performs at the highest level of service complexity in support of system operations, performance, and usage. They develop advanced solutions and specifications to resolve process issues, which may involve elements of testing and development. The analyst provides support to business units and associates and may provide leadership to less experienced analysts. The position interfaces with business, application development teams, shared services organizations, and infrastructure areas. It is part of Foreign Exchange, supporting continued build‑out of investments, capital markets, cash, and liquidity management capabilities at First Citizens Bank.
Responsibilities
Data Analysis – sources, compiles, and interprets data at an advanced level, effectively communicating analysis output and directing work as needed.
Identifying Requirements – determines system requirements, communicates them in specifications and reports, resolves complex factors affecting system processes, and ensures compliance.
Reporting – enables strategic insight into business systems through reports to senior management, evaluates systems, and develops process enhancements.
System Support – provides expert technical support, handles escalated and complex support issues, develops and implements modifications, and serves as an analytics resource.
Lead engagement with business partners on changing business needs, analyze business requirements, and communicate system implications of proposed changes.
Manage and coordinate the entire lifecycle of incremental enhancements and change requests.
Serve as a liaison with business owners to lead and facilitate elicitation, prioritization of business initiatives, and design of vendor interfaces and UI specifications.
Convert application designs into data models and interface/data mapping specifications.
Collaborate with developers to understand data structures, sources, and systematic processes during system development.
Apply advanced knowledge of systems integration through Web services, ETL, and related technologies.
Proactively identify and address systematic and data integrity issues across multiple systems.
Manage and support system production issues, change requests, and maintenance.
Communicate status, prioritize requirements, influence approvals, and guide recommended solutions.
Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree and ≥4 years of experience in Systems Support, Analytics, or Operational Support.
Or High School Diploma/GED and ≥8 years of experience in Systems Support, Analytics, or Operational Support.
Preferred Qualifications
6–8 years of work as a business systems analyst in the financial industry (Payments, Liquidity, Cash Management, Group Finance, Regulatory Reporting, Product Control, etc.).
Proven experience in business requirements elicitation, functional/non‑functional translation, solution design, story writing, test planning, and change management.
Experience in business process reengineering and systems analysis.
Experience in data management projects, data analysis, governance, quality, and lineage.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with ability to analyze business requirements and determine processing flow, user needs, and system inter‑dependencies.
Experience defining test strategy and writing test cases.
Experience with SDLC and Agile methodologies.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a history of engaging business partners and stakeholders.
Functional knowledge of Payment Gateways for SWIFT & FED, Payment Sanctions screening, Payment Fraud systems, Payment Workflow Management, Foreign Exchange, Trade Finance, and Treasury.
Strong SQL skills (complex queries).
Technical acumen with understanding of API, messaging, distributed computing, system integration patterns, event stream processing, micro‑services, and cloud‑native development.
Ability to analyze and translate complex requirements into functional system design.
Data analytics experience and capability to investigate data.
Ability to juggle multiple projects and tasks.
Rapid absorption of new information and domain knowledge.
